Jeanne Arthes is part of the Arthes Group, a French perfume company based in Grasse. Founded in 1978, the company began marketing its fragrances in the 1980s throughout the world, and in 1987, secured funding to purchase its own manufacturing facilities in Grasse, the worldwide "cradle of perfume." The company was installed in the Grasse industrial park in 1995, and began negotiating with mass market retailers worldwide for the distribution of its products.Jeanne Arthes scents are distributed in France through mass-market retails such as Auchan, Leclerc, Magasin U, Carrefour and Intermarche.The exporting of Jeanne Arthes fragrances through mass market outlets outside France accounts for more than 75% of the company's product turnover.Fragrances for men and women are marketed under the Jeanne Arthes, Jeanne d'Urfe and Jeanne-en-Provence labels. For Jeanne Arthes and Jeanne d’Urfé, the company oversees every step in the development of the perfume from its headquarters in Grasse. From concept to final product, through promotion and distribution, the company offers more than 30 years of expertise in the creation and launch of new fragrances. Jeanne en Provence is the company's newest brand. It was introduced in 2011 and will offer a range of Provence-inspired perfumes, body care products and home fragrances, with an emphasis on the botanical ingredients native to the Provence region.Jeanne Arthes also has a licensing division that develops perfumes for other brands, and works as a contract manufacturer for other brands.One of the best-selling fragrances offered by the house of Jeanne Arthes is Cobra, which sold millions of bottles in the 1980s and was re-released in a special edition to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the house, in 2008.
